Friends enjoying a fire Here are some prevention tips from incredible sources you should be aware of to help you get through the rest of your summer fire safe!

Summer fun for the residents of Union City, Fairview, and Platea are almost synonymous with each other. These cities are known for their countless summer activities, but with those activities come some potential dangers you should be aware of.

These dangers have the potential for creating an uncontrollable fire. Whether you are making a campfire for your friends and family to enjoy, grilling up something irresistible, or setting off fireworks on our nation’s Independence Day. Here are some prevention tips from incredible sources you should be aware of to help you get through the rest of your summer fire safe!

Campfire Safety - According to Smokey the Bear, when controlling your fire, you should never spray aerosols or any other flammable liquids onto the fire. Most uncontrollable fires are caused by dosing a fire with these liquids. As for extinguishing, you should always remember this tip - if it’s too hot to touch, its too hot to leave!

Grilling Safety - According to National Fire Protection Association, keeping your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup greatly reduces the risk of creating a dangerous grill fire.

Also, your grill should be placed well away from the home, deck railings, and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.

Firework Safety - According to National Safety Council, fireworks should only be used and handled away from people, flammable materials, and residential areas. Also, always keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks that do not go off or in case of fire.
