What to Do Before the Snow Melts in Girard, PA

Snow removal rake in action. The peak of winter is here, and the snow is not melting anytime soon.

The peak of winter is here, and the snow is not melting anytime soon. Since we cannot count on it melting, we must take care of it ourselves. What a bummer right? However, we are all in this together, and while we are at it, we will throw in a few tips too!

Snow Removal Tips

Many times, we are not sure if it is us or the city who is supposed to clean snow from the sidewalk. Often it is the owner of the property’s responsibility. It is important to keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice to prevent injury and easier travel for yourself and your neighbors. So, what is the best way to remove snow from the sidewalk? NYC.gov provides some tips for sidewalk snow removal:

  • Remove snow along the sidewalk adjacent to your property. Do not push snow from the sidewalk into the street.
  • Clear the snow from around the fire hydrant if there is one in front of your property.
  • You should move the snow to your front yard, behind the stoop line, or to the grassy curb strip if one exists.
  • Where possible, try to clear a path at least four feet wide along the sidewalk.
